F3 Bricked

I'm on a shoot and after powering F3 down, it would not power up again. Green power light comes on, but camera does not respond. Anyone know if there's a way to do a hard reset?

Sorry to hear that. Did you try taking the memory battery off and re start? I don't have mine in front of me right now to tell you where it is, but I think it is under the camera.

Also if you were powering with a Sony battery did you try powering using the 4 pin XLR? If you were powering using the XLR connector did you try powering using a Sony batt?

V1.4 allows the camera to boot up much quicker and that could be part of the problem. I changed BP-U60 batteries during a shoot and I was in a hurry. Switched the battery, inserted another one and powered up. The screen went all weird for around ten seconds and then cleared itself. Never has happened before. Kirk, I would take it for a service for assessment. What I've learnt about the F3 is that whilst it's a very easy camera to use, there's a lot of highly complicated stuff going on inside!

Thanks for your advice everyone. I was not able to get the camera powered up again. Looks like it will be taking a trip to LA without me.

I had something very similar happen to an EX-3 and it turned out to be the power circuit board. Took a week or so to get the part but they fixed it as well as did a full camera check up and some tweaks. If it is under warranty, just tell them as well that you are concerned about dust in the optical block. That might get you the fix. Good luck and we all want to know how this turns out for you.

Exact thing happened to my F3 right after I got it! Took about 3 weeks to repair. They had to replace a board of some sort. They also replaced the optical block without me even asking, which was a nice surprise.
