F3 and record flags through HDSDI

Hello, I am wondering if anybody has any information on the Sony F3 being able to send record flags and metadata through HDSDI for devices like the Teradek Cube or PIX 240 to simultaneous record when hitting record on the camera.

Thanks for any info
Colin

The PIX 240 can be setup to record only when there is running timecode (REC RUN only). The Pix can also be set to trigger via start/stop triggers from some cameras - the list in the manual does not mention the F3 as outputting these flags, only the Red One, Epic and "Panasonic cameras."

It is my understanding that the F3 does output an SDI flag for recording - but I'm not aware of any recorders that respond to this flag.

The implementation of these flags for each camera is different, which means recorders must have firmware that responds to the manufacturer/model specific flag. Recorders on the market prior to the the F3's release in February 2011 can reasonably be assumed to not support the SDI record flag from the F3 without a corresponding firmware update.
