F23 Parts?

Well if all goes right and adorama doesnt really screw me on their proposed quote they gave me for my varicam package, i'll be a happy owner of an F23 in the next 2 weeks or so (finally :b) and i was curious as to where i could find a gold mount battery plate and top handle for it?

I would be very cautious dealing with Adorama used, it pretty much just a scam in my opinion. They never offer a fair quote coming in way low and then want to take 30% of the top. A couple of examples for you,

I contacted them about selling a just serviced Cooke 20-100mm in very good condition. On forums and Ebay an average going price for one of those was around $4500-$5000 with many in the $6k range. They said it was worth $2500, leaving me with only $1750 if I took the offer all the while Adorama had the same lens on Ebay at that exact moment for $6000.

A few years ago I contacted them about my F35 which were going in the $4500 - $5000 range and that time I believe the only offered my $2200 for it. I have contacted them probably half a dozen times in the past kind of hoping to get a different result with a different agent but it is always the same, offers WAY below actual value.

Good luck with your sale but I wouldn't count any any sort of fair offer from Adorama. Accesories for the F23 and F35 are pretty rare and hard to come by, maybe someone here will have something they are willing to part with but chances are you will have to keep an eye out for something to show up. Most sellers don't want to sell those items separately either.

On a side note, any reason you are going with the F23 instead of the SRW 9000?

Yeah, i've heard horror stories about them, Charles Levy @ adorama told me it would be around the $1500 range.. they have a few HPX2700s between 2400 and 2899 so we will see what they offer me next week. I am going with the 23 for personal reasons as well as financial, i cant afford an SRW9000. I got a killer deal on a F23 and the people on ebay are being kind enough to hold it for me until i hear back from adorama so hopefully i can get the quote they promised, otherwise im just going to have them return my varicam and continue to play the waiting game and hope another F23 pops up one day. I've heard they play the numbers game thinking most people dont want to have their gear returned to them.. well, im not most people.. they give me a deal where i can invest in my F23 or they can waste my time and loose money on the shipping labels its up to them lol. Next week should be interesting.. Given i have the original box, all paperwork, both bottom plates (rod and stock), B&W viewfinder, original shoulder strap and the camera has under 1600hrs on it with no cosmetic damage of anykind they are true sharks offering me anything LESS than 1500 dollars for it when they have just bodies without viewfinders or anything else with 10s of thousands of hours going in the 2000s. I'll let you guys know what the end game is on here of course. Hopefully it ends with me telling you I've joined the F-- family <3
 
I've seen 3 F23's sell for under $800 in the last year. There is seller selling D-tap to F35 lemo for $125 on ebay, this is the cheapest option to power F35.
 
It's crazy when you look back and think that just a few years ago(okay, more than just a few...) a 2700 was $40K+ and an F23 eclipsed that and now they're available for literally peanuts. Selling one of my 2700's for $1500 would actually lose me money.

So i could get a cold shoe version of the gold mount for the camera and power via the batteries dtap.. nice!
 
Does it come with an IF Box? I have an AB Plate that will screw to the F23 IF Box. So if you are interested you can power from there via the 4 pin XLR on the IF BOX. Safest method IMO.

Yes it does come with the IF Box, ironically its one of VER's old rental units (its ironic because i worked for VER in chicago). I will know by sunday if this F23 purchase is going to happen. Adorama just got my Varicam today and I know it takes them around 3 days. I have some pretty crazy days ahead at work so i wont be able to talk to them until my day off on sunday. If everything goes through with the F23 next week i will contact you rbirnbaum about how much you are asking for the piece and the soonest i could pay you. :)

Sorry guys, i've been very busy at work and have barely had anytime to focus. I am happy to say I will be the happy owner of an F23! Adorama is sending my check from the varicam package UPS today and it should arrive to me on friday. Really good start to my day before i head into work. rbirnbaum I am PMing you about that power plate :). I will post pictures once everything is here. :D
 
Congratulations on getting an F23! What lenses will you be shooting with?

What did you get for your Varicam package?

Alright, thanks! Looking forward to hearing more about it! You now have the trifecta of 2/3” cameras. F900 f23 and varicam!

Tell me about it. Been with 2/3" since 2015 and havent looked back. the format just works for me and now i will have the top of the mountain in that sensor size. i should take it to the top of a mountain here in denver and get some vista shots :D

Lenses im going to be on the lame side for a few months. Ill be using the same SD Canon that I was using on the varicam. I really wish I hadnt sold that OPTEX HD Cine Zoom I had for my F900.. im sure it would look amazing on an F23. I hope to either get a good deal on a fujinon cine zoom sometime this year or just start collecting digiprimes over a longer period of time. we will see what happens.
 
I just want to add that if anyone sees or is personally selling that top handle unit for the F23/35 please get in touch with me as I'd like to find one. The only hand support im going to have is that L shape bracket that goes on top of the body for now. Next paycheck will be finding rail brackets and a cheap handgrip. I had a cheap handgrip unit from Cavision that did the trick for the F900.
 
the f23 and all initial parts are ordered and paid for, WooHoo! Just waiting for them to arrive now, should be less than a week. :)
