You have to click the link at the top of the page, but it's pretty self explanatory. The video that loads on our main page is the trailer, but you guys can easily find it. Leave feedback, it's always nice to read.

The file itself is 82 megs, 13 minutes long, and rendered for 2:40:1.

wow i love the look of it. i think you got the feel of the series at the same time adding the asthetics of todays films. i enjoyed it alot.

I thought I also heard your zoom mechanism claking at the thru-car window shot.

Hey! great job, I enjoyed watching the film. gotta love the special effects with the blood. ...that was kickin stuff. To me it feels like a Voorhees flicks, except without the naked chicks running topless with high heels..but u know... maybe in the next installment! great work! me and guys are just learning how to do that makeup stuff with the blood and everything. The shot where the dude got his neck slit looks real. keep em coming!

yeah i was missing something...ohh thats right boobs, every friday the 13ths gottem, and well its just not the same with out em. as leo said in the aviator "who doesn't love tits".

anyway to get to the critque i would say invest in a better tripd head, that or practice your pans, the all seemed really shakey and took away from my interest in the plot. I have often read that camera movments should be invisible in order to be successfull (unless you are trying to draw attention to your move of course). Other than than not bad, i sat though the entire thing well entertained.

Good work, keep crankin, more boobs. haha

i think i've seen the trailer before. but not the final version.

the car scene at the start seems a little dark, maybe it's cause of the compression. the rest looks good. hahah that throat cutting scene looks cool how did you do that. keeps ineteresting cause people keep getting slashed :D

it stopped at 8 minutes in though, is it still working or is it just my computer crapping up. anyways i'll try an re-download it. but so far good job!

Josh, first of all, awesome movie, I really enjoyed it. I loved that shot straight after the credits with the car driving up to the house. Excellent framing and colour correction. Also, the shot of the guy grabbing the knife looked really nice. And, besides the jerky pan, the exterior shots of the car right at the beginning looked excellent too!

That being said, I think that you guys need to work abit on the camerawork and also alot of the shot composition. I think that if you keep the camera on a tripod for most of the shots (besides Jason's POV mainly) and maybe make a skateboard wheel Dolly (a couple of times during it I thought I dolly shot would look really good) that would really help, because I really enjoyed the movie, but the camerawork took me away from it somewhat. Also, you should do like an internet search on Camera Composition and maybe check out www.video101course.com, it will really help your future projects.

I don't think that came off harsh, if it did though, not at all intended. I just really enjoyed the short and thought I'd give you some suggestions to make your future work even better.

Oh, by the way, I loved the music. I was actually in suspense during the 'guy-under-the-bed' shot. Nice work with that. Colour Correction was awesome too!

Thanks for posting this and I'll look forward to what you do next,
Mike

P.S. If you render the file again but decrease the quality of the audio a bit(Mono etc), you should get your file size down and more people will be likely to download it (plus it will save you bandwidth)...you might even be able to make the image higher resolution. Just a thought.

P.P.S. Wesley, I was downloading it in GetRight and it kept cutting out, luckily because of GetRight it just kept resuming.

Pretty good. Acting was lacking a bit, but I think that rings true for even the big budget jason movies. Have fun and keep em coming.

It was a really nice effort with a lot of work, but I didn't get a Friday the 13th vibe. The music you use wasn't anything like in the movies. Blues Traveler, right? By the way, I didn't notice a music credit. If you're going to use other peoples music you really should give them credit! Even if it's just a fan project. The Jason make-up and fx were really well done. there was some good stuff and some bad stuff (Example: The opening shot of the passing car was not smooth. The opening shot is the MOSt important shot, it sets the standard for the rest of the movie. Get the shot steady or don't use it.) Overall it's obvious you all put a lot of work into this project, but I really didn't feel a connection to the original series.

Good luck and keep on shooting!

I will give you an B for effort.

A few things you may want to do for your next installment.

umm.. Night...Daylight really through me out of the loop.

Some things that may seem like little details can really make a difference...One, Jason's hands are shown and they're NORMAL...Don't show his hands or put some of the makeup on them as well...

Also, Jason is not really considerate. He wouldn't be kind enough to close the door behind him. In fact, he wouldn't even open it...(with the handle)

I realize your budget so these are comments not meant to critique...Just areas you may want to consider next time around. Take your time in pre-production.

Otherwise, pretty good potential. Good work.

Yeah the Blues Travler song threw me off a bit, but there was not much tense action going on in the open, so it seems to be ok. The sound effects were nice, I guess you used them from an actual F13TH movie. You guys have some talent. I would like to see an original idea from you guys.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm personally the editor, my friend Joe is the director (with the DVX), so you'd have to voice camera concerns to him. And the blues traveler, yeah. I can understand how that wouldn't be in a jason movie. but then again the first one had a pop song for the beginning. all of the orchestrated music for the next 10 minutes was all straight out of the jason movies. actual tracks off the soundtrack. the ending was nine inch nails, like we used in the trailer. and i honestly didn't realize i had forgotten the music credit, thanks for pointing that out. the general consensus seems to be that people are liking it, even if we could've done better. which is good. our next project is completely original, and for the first time, budgeted. it's going to be quite the production, and you guys can expect plenty of stills\vidcaps. thanks for the support.

Josh - Once again, do you have a credit for the song you used? You have a long list of credits for all your friends. Please give credit where credit is due. If not, it's a bad habit to get into, this early in your career.

The editing was off a bit with the screw driver through the hand(cut too quick from thrust of hand to screw through hand) and throughout the rest of the short. You should keep tracks of ambiance throughout whole short especialy the part when the vehicle comes to the house in the morning. Usually you only leave silence when you are trying to convey a certain message to the audience. Nice colors in that scene though. That bleeding neck in middle of it looks real, great make-up job.
When Jason was stabbing(?) that guy in front of the tree, it would have looked better if you kept those other angles of blood splattering on the same side that they were on. I did dig those zooms though, it gave it that 70's feel to it. The last part of the short looked really good and had a great forest to boot. It was nice to watch despite some improvements.

Lets see more. :)

Love the gore (the guy with the slit throat was the best, loved the explosion of blood), liked the music it was suspenseful, and Jason looked good. Some of your death shots were a bit too long, it just seemed that you hung on them for too long. And the swearing, I love to ****in swear, but if you listen to the dialouge at the begining there's alot of pointless four letter words. Good sound design if you did foley. Need to work on composition a little. And NO BOOBIES MAN, COME ON!!!! But fun flick I give it a three and a half out of five.
