f stop numbers on the lens end up on the bottom

I have a takumar lenses with an m42 to 4/3 adapter. Everything seems to work fine except the f stop numbers on the lens end up on the bottom, so I have to flip the cam to see what f stop I'm at. Am I doing something wrong here or is this normal?
 
Hi Kurt, it just depends on the quality of the adapter design. The m42 mount has been designed poorly (should have been rotated 180° in their CAD program). Don't fret, but you should seek the opinion of someone who has used a m42 adapter they liked.

By the way, you're looking for a m42 to m4/3 adapter, not to 4/3. There is a difference.
 
Yes I meant m 4/3 which is the adapter I have. Apart from everything being upside down it seems to work. Maybe this adapter is designed by Satan.
