Hey guys, Im sure this has been discussed somewhere here on the forum but for all the guys who have converted to F/nikon mounts on the F35 I'm curious to know what kind of glass are you using whats your thoughts on the results? Im looking at a set of Nikon mount Leica R glass but before I pull the trigger I want to know what are your thoughts and what are you guys using? As always thanks in advance.

Btw, I'm currently using Version 2 CineAlta PL glass but I also have a nikon mount for the F35 so I want a lighter set to shoot with for run and gun.

You have the same lenses I have. Keep the PL mount and forget the nikon. The weight difference is minimal but the downsides to the nikon are too many.

You're right macgregor....I definitely wasn't thinking of getting rid of them....the lighter lenses just seems so tempting at times lol :-)

Mac is right, Nikon is OK at best, you need manual iris lens using iris tab is ridiculous and can't tell accurate F Stop. I removed the ring with the tiny iris tab because i feared it would scratch a lens. Using just the Nikon mount, I shoot with the Sigma 18-35, Older Nikon 28-70 and 70-200 f2.8. Sigma I use a Q-Tip to set the iris but I settle for this because I love the look of this lens, usually I set it wide open and use variable ND filter.

PM me if you want to buy a nikon mount with plate, it's convertible between PL and Nikon, I would love a reason to go all PL on my lens set. There are Canon and Nikon to PL mount conversions popping up on eBay constantly so if you really want cheaper zoom lenses, better to go with the PL mount for all it's advantages. It's not that the Nikon lenses don't work fine and produce nice images with the F35, which they do and connect just as good as any Nikon mount adapter Sony cam. The adjustable back focus is actually killer with Nikon zooms and getting a constant focus through the zoom. But I think the consensus is - the F35 can be adapted to a Nikon lens but for any large scale - or long term production, it is better to invest in the stronger PL mount lenses.

I'm rocking the Cine Samyangs in Nikon mount. The focus throw is a little short, they're made of plastic, they're a little soft and the defocused image on a couple of them seems a little "hazy" wide open (as opposed to crisp tight blobs)

BUT.. The oversized aperture rings works well with the recessed nikon mount and most are T1.5. T1.5!!!! :3

They work well for me. But they're just for no budget quick shoots. If anything came up that needed something more, there's a budget to hire ;)
