So, if my research is correct, there is no way to use my Zacuto hdmi VF and output SDI at the same time? HOw are you all providing client monitor with characters- like TC or anything else? i have the latest firmware upgrade, Using the A port to feed the KI mini. I have been just taking the SDI out of the KI to monitor, but that leaves me no way to output overlays...what am i missing?
thanks

You have to turn off Dual Link to use SDI monitor out and HDMI at the same time. Use HDMI out to VF, go SDI out (display off) to mini turn on super out on Mini (can do with new firmware) and your good. TC is now on monitor. A would be still preferable, when you have a SDI VF.

Does the KiPro mini supply simultaneous SDI & HDMI outputs? On the PIX240 I provide SDI from Dual Link A while driving the Zacuto EVF from the PIX HDMI Output. The Directors monitor with desired overlays can then be supplied from the SDI monitor output on the F3.

I don't think so- i didn't get a signal out of the HDMI of the KI(while using SDI)- my solution was to loop out of the Zacuto EVF to a client monitor... I was thinking of getting a cineroid VF- that would allow me to take the SDI out of the f-3 (while using Dual Link A port) i could split the signal or perhaps loop out of vf? It puzzles me that SONY couldn't engineer at least an analog composite out of the camera that is active when using Dual link...Outside of that, i had my 1st shoot with the F-3 yesterday and the KI performed flawlessly. The only drawback i see is that you have to pay close attention to the media usage on the CF cards, as far as i know, it doesn't automatically switch from slot A to B when the card is full. At about 10% left, it stopped recording and i had to manually toggle the KI to card 2. Lastly, my audio guy told me that the audio was cleaner if we used the F-3's xlr input rather than the KI direct. ANyone else confirm this?

That's what I thought as well, but I was on the phone with AJA support on another question and he said that they were both active? I never mess with the HDMI..I have the Metal SDI and works fine, I looked at a buddy's Alphatron and hate to say I was not that impressed. Resolution seemed just a hair better. And It's bigger than the Cineroid too. And while I was there, he got a sun hit and put a burn dot on the Alpha. He was pissed. If you get a VF be ultra, ultra careful that the VF never sees the sun down the loupe. Not even for a second!
The Mini will not jump over to second card, you must do it manually, by pressing "slot".
That's why the added the "super out' so you can confirm record with a red dot and TC. And run that to VF when you get a SDI VF.
Not sure on audio, allways ran audio to camera too.

If you run audio directly to the Ki you'll have sync issues in playback. Always allow the video and audio signal paths to be the same to maintain sync.
