EZ Prompter with EX-1

Howdy...

I've just ordered the EZ Prompter from Barber Tech for use with my EX1. Has anyone else here had much experience with one?

I ordered a 77-82mm step-up ring too, so it should be easy to attach.

I noticed there is a 'stealth' version too, but the site doesn't really explain what the difference is between the two...

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Best,

Ben

Ben:

The Stealth version is designed for cameras with built in microphones on the front, like the EX1. I don't believe the non-Stealth version will work. I would call Barber Tech right away on this.

Howdy...

The mic on the EX1 actually extends past the lens. I thought I would just turn the EZprompter upside-down. Of course, that might interfere with the tripod. I'll have to see.

Because the stealth uses a vertical backplate, I thought it would be harder to avoid the microphone.

Anyone have any experience....? I can always return it if it doesn't work, but I'd rather hear from your thought...

Best,

Ben

Ben:

I own the Stealth. I have the experience. You need to talk to Eddie Barber on this.

The fact that the mic extends past the lens is the whole point of why you need the Stealth version. The regular version cannot mount to the lens because the mic is in the way.

Hi, Dave...

Didn't mean to pee in your cornflakes. I'm not suggesting you don't have the experience, just that I was hoping there might be someone who already had the original prompter and had used it on their EX1....

I took your advice and called the folks at Barber Tech. They said that they had sold several units to EX1 people, and while it's workable with the original prompter, they recommend the STEALTH model for any camera with a protruding internal mic (as you suggest, Dave).

I suggested to them that a mention of this on their website might not be a bad thing, and they agreed that it was sorely missing from the STEALTH page on their site...

So, I went ahead and purchased the Stealth. I appreciate the input!

Best,

Ben
