I just ordered a card for my EX3. If this works over an 802.11n ad-hoc connection to a laptop and record directly to Sony Clip Browser........(Thats really exciting)

Update: 7/2010

I got this to work for AVCHD(Any Flavor)
Step 1. Using the eyefi card adhoc-ed to my laptop.

Step 2. I then have an automator folder action watch the folder it is downloaded in and have it open Adobe Media Encoder.

Step 3. I then set up a watch folder and adobe media encoder will transcode all AVCHD files to prores proxy for immediate editing on my macbook air (no external drive necessary as the data rates are so low).

This is a huge time saver and really allows the creative process to flow as you can literally shoot and edit at the same time without any wires, connections, cumbersome hardware.

It seems unlikely that it can "stream" video. It likely has to wait for a file to be closed before transferring it. That would rule out long-form videography, but it would be convienent for short-form shooting individual scenes, etc. (Assuming it can handle the EX directory and file organization.)

Most likely this will not work for your camera: http://support.eye.fi/eye-fi-setup/...h-video-formats-do-eye-fi-video-cards-upload/

...In order for photos or videos to be uploaded wirelessly from these cards, your camera must save the photo or video file in the DCIM folder on your Eye-Fi Card. ... In order for a video file to be wirelessly uploaded by an Eye-Fi Video Card it must:
  • be in the the DCIM folder or one if its sub-folders

Would it be possible to put the BPAV file in a custom folder and call it DCIM? then point clip browser to the eye-fi program??

If the eye-fi card is communicating through an ad-hoc then it must be transmitting an I.P. Address

If your connected through a router - say an airport express on location then the airport express would set an IP address automatically?? - then it would be a matter of mounting that IP address and you can pretty much do whatever you want (In Theory)

No, you cannot rename the BPAV folder or configure the camera to use another folder name. You will not be able to directly mount an already within the camera mounted file system. Therefor the firmware of the Eye-fi card will need to know where to look for new files to push them to the other side of an IP connection.

just saw some stuff for this, so i'm digging the thread back up. so what i get is that with a camera such as the t2i, you have the option of recording without wiping out the card, as it has a setting to do so automatically. is that right? do the files upload in close to real time, or is it after the individual file has finished recording? could you set up automatic redundant storage, so that it would be backed up to several places automatically? this would be great for same day edits, i just don't know enough about it, so a lot is just guessing about capabilities. anybody able to clear up these questions?
