Extreme Deer!

Okay, you guys are probably getting tired of my Letus Extreme footage by now but I can't help it :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

I shot this yesterday on a very overcast day, it was raining and I was shooting through a window. A couple of deer posed for me.

The purpose of these shots is to demonstrate the adapter using a Nikon 200mm f4 lens. I had it wide open and I think it did very well. It's nice to be able to get some wildlife shots with the adapter. For longer reaches (like 650mm), I would use the native lens of the XHA1 so 200mm is about the limit for me just from a practical and expense pov. This lens is great for capturing sports events also.

As usual, downrezzed to 720p

Suhweeet. 200mm at work! You wouldn't happen to have a 135 in your arsenal would ya!?

Keep it coming! I secretly wish you had an HVX right now. Wait... it's not a secret anymore. =P

Ahhhh, my posse returns....Each time I try to get out, they pull me back in :cheesy:

Focus was off for sure, I had a moving target, shooting through a window in the rain using only the LCD....They were only in my yard for a couple of minutes so it was total grip and rip style.

Don't have a 135mm but the 100mm does me just as well.

The XHA1 was not completely open, maybe 1 stop from open...sorry I don't remember but it was pretty close to that.

I also have the zoom on my Canon set to Academy and I am going to basically use that as my default from now on unless I need a super wide shot with my 28mm.

I'm really only testing stuff right now so no time to do all this with music :)

If I have the edge enhancement and magnification on the LCD then I have a fairly good shot at it. It's easier to focus where there is a very shallow depth of field because the contrast between in focus and out of focus is pretty stark.

I never use an external monitor when I shoot soccer and baseball games and I get the focus spot on about 90% of the time. For critical projects, I would never, and I mean NEVER, shoot without an external monitor.

Once I start rolling tape, I can no longer use the LCD's magnification. Is there a custom function for this, disjecta? Or do you just critical focus before rolling?

ah steve, you always make my day kick ass with some nice footage to watch before night comes. Can't wait for my extreme to come !
