Extra headroom - LCD frame not accurate?

I shot an industrial with my DVX100A and I noticed more headroom appearing on my monitor and on an edited version of the project than what I saw on the LCD screen. The camera seems to shoot a bigger picture than what I see on the LCD screen. Is this correct? I guess I could shoot some kind of registration chart and find out, but I thought I'd ask the experts first.

Yes, that's what it does.

I don't know if it exact, but what you see is more or less the "safe area", i.e. what will be seen when viewed on a television. (Regular TVs don't show the full frame)

Oh. Wait a sec. You said experts...well, I'm pretty sure I'm right. ;)

YEP, Sure does. That is why it is important to use a monitor with underscan feature to make sure you don't have anything in the picture you don't want.
