External

I'm running into a problem with space on my external it has 149 gigs I used 148 I still have to do some color correction and minor things.

The main folder that holds everything is 129 gigs that's where most of the rendered footage is and where mostly where it was captured.

On my regular c drive I lost space as well.

Any suggestions I'm thinking just go buy another hardrive

Or if I delete everything in the main sub folder I belive everything on the timeline in adobe will show as media offline.

by the way adobe is good for editing but the rendering sucks I'm switching to mac! and final cut.

Well, for hard drives I have always gone western digital, but just recently switched to Seagate because I hear they are even more reliable than WD and they also have a really good warranty (5 years I think on the hard drive). I just picked up a 300 gig external with a 16 meg buffer for 159. Haven't used it much, but so far it seems to work really well. Oh and By the way, rendering with premiere only sucks if you are running a slow system...my system isn't even That fast, and my render times are pretty good. That's beside the point though, because I don't want to make this a Mac v. PC debate. So to sum it up, I say go pick up a Seagate drive, they are nice. Both the internals and the externals

For me, in order to save disk space. I have done some pre cutting, in other words, I try to get rid of as much unusable video I can, then make that a movie. Then delete original. I as well am using 120 gig C drive, 160 gig D drive. it all gets used up very quickly my 160 is a seagate... they are only like 80 bucks now for an internal.

Is the rendering on a mac much better? ( picking up my G5 soon I hope)

Also, in premiere (and I assume there is a way to do it in FCP) there is a way to make a new "trimmed" project that includes only the media and render files that are being used in the most current edit. I use that one alot to make my whole project smaller for archiving or if I want to throw it onto an external hard drive. I haven't cut with a Mac much, but from what I have experienced there didn't seem to be much difference in render times. To me, they are both the same thing and its just whatever you're used to and which NLE you're more comfortable with that dictate which one to use..... just MHO
