External USB hard drives.

If I were using the laptop transfer solution,
Couldn't I use the small cigarette pack sized external laptop usb 2 drives, to connect to the laptop with no other power source to the drive other than the usb bus power? This way, I don't really need a battery powered hard drive (just get more laptop batteries, which are easy to find)

I currently have such a device on my other computer, and it seems that solution would eliminate extra cords.

Speaking of cords, Did Panasonic not include the USB to 5 pin mini usb cord needed to connect the camera to a laptop?
I never saw it in my box (got it yesterday).
I had to get one from walmart. It was very difficult to find, as I was looking in the computer section, where they only have the larger type cords.
I later found it in the ipod section.

I still can't seem to get the drivers for the 8 gig P2 card. Panasonic's website won't accept my P2 card serial and model number. It's written clearly on the card, and the green envelope, so I know it's correct......

Not sure why Panasonic won't just let you download it without all this headache..........
