Hey guys i am using a Lacie USB2/Firewire 400 GB External Hard Drive with my Laptop and My PC for video editing, its quite fast and i face no problems doing SD work except that before it used to come up as Drive E on my Laptop but after i plugged a small 256mb USB Pen, the Pen came up as Drive E and now the Hard Drive has become Drive F, further more it comes up as Drive I on my PC as i have extra Internal Hard Drives and DVD Burners installed. My question is this, is it possible to change the name this drive comes up as? so that i can make it come up as Drive I on both? :undecided
I edit on my laptop and use my computer for rendering and transcoding as its much faster at it but i have to locate all the video clips, still images, audio tracks. titles and music in Premiere when i shift from Laptop to PC. If somehow it came up as say Drive I on both the platforms it will be much easier and faster for me.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know about changing the letter of the drive but you can easily change the name. Just right click on the drive and choose rename. You could have for example "E:External" on one system and then "F:External" on the other.

Thanks

Thanks Ovjamaica i neva thought it be this simple  i am gona give it a go and i hope it works. :)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under Computer Management, click Disk Management. In the right pane, you’ll see your drives listed. CD-ROM drives are listed at the bottom of the panel.
3. Right-click the drive or device you want to change, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
4. Click Change, click Assign the following drive letter, click the drive letter you want to assign, and then click OK.

Link has no pics so I copied here.

I wouldnt be so worried about the drive letter, I guess the most important thing is to name each drive.
