External record/pause button for HVX200?

I was thinking of how nice it would be to mount a record/pause button on the handle of my Zacuto rig for when I'm operating with the whole camera/adapter setup on my shoulder.

Anyone know of a remote button you can mount there? I know Varizoom has a thing with all sorts of controls, but I just need a button for start/stop. Maybe there's a way to make one yourself? Any ideas would be great.

I'd just use the remote that comes with the camera.

I kind of want something with a wire and no battery, to simplify. A simple button would be the best. Nothing?

The remote for my 170 is next to useless. When the camera is on the 12' crane, it wont start or stop until I lower the whole thing. The zoom also stutters with the remote.

Yes you can get a simpler remote, you can get one that just controls zoom and start/stop. You can also make your own, someone here posted instructions on what parts you needed and IIRC it's a simple matter of a button, a mini-jack connector, and a couple of wires. I don't know how to find that old post, but it was in the DVX section so root around in the DIY forum from like three to five years ago and you might find it.

I think I paid 15 or 20 bucks for a 15' audio cable to extend the length.
