External Raid 5 Setup

I need to purchase an external Raid enclosure. I would prefer Raid 5 for redundancy/speed. Here is where the options come in:

I want to be able to access the drives via Mac and PC, thus Thunderbolt probably isn't the best option. So it's either eSATA or USB3.0. This is slightly beneficial to cost because Thunderbolt arrays seem to be a lot more expensive. I think the best option I'm looking at is finding an eSATA enclosure and purchasing this : http://www.kanexlive.com/thunderbolt-esata or https://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10574

Thus, what are your recommendations for an eSATA enclosure. Or USB3.0. Or just your general thoughts on what I mentioned above.

I need roughly 300mb/s reads

Thanks for any help!

I have had multiple bad experiences with Lacie and judging by the number or recon units lacie seems to have in sales I am not alone.

there is another option other than esata or USB...... Ethernet. I use the following in a mixed MAC/PC environment

I use a Netgear unit with 6 drives in it, It is an older version of this
http://www.netgear.com/business/products/storage/readynas/RN31600.aspx#tab-techspecs

I run it in RAID6 which means it will withstand 2 drives failing with no loss of data. It also has 2 gigabyte ethernet ports.
The other useful thing with the is unit is it you can increase the internal memory and the hard disks are hot swappable so you can increase the size dynamically. I started out with 6 * 1TB drives and have replaced three with 2TB drives and the unit automatically expands the array to use them.
