External monitors for HVX

[galenaskater]

Any suggestions for external monitors? I'm looking for something a bit larger than the standard LCD screen that will allow me to pull focus easier. Looking to spend a few hundred dollars. Any suggestions. I'm mainly filming action sports so i'll need something that mounts to the actual camera.

Hundreds of monitor posts here. Try the search box, it's been discussed for ages.

Lots of options. SmallHD just had 2 monitor monitors on sell at B&H. Atomos 5" ninja blade monitor/recorders are now half what they used to be. IKAN and many others make camera mountable field monitors as well.

Could you be more specific with your budget, a few to me means 3-6, but you might have a different definition so give us a maximum number.

Also, help us narrow it down by telling us what size and features you want e.g. 5", 7", waveform, zoom crop marks, focus peaking, zebra stripes etc.

A few months ago I ended up getting a Lilliput 664/O/P because I just wanted something cheap and usable, and for $110 on eBay I can't complain. Feelworld also seems to have some decent budget options.

The BlackMagic Video Assist is a well build relatively cheap option.

Invest in a SmallHD monitor. Try the DP4, if they still make it. You won't be sorry. I use one on my HVX and it really is a step up from the built in lcd.
