external monitor for fs100

Btw... would it possible to use the monitor as a converter from HDMI to SDI and feed the loop into the Samurai?

The TV Logic VFM-056WP (premium) converts the HDMI signal to HD-SDI. There is no HDMI loop through, just HD-SDI. The monitor is quite good- somewhere I recall it had 768 lines of resolution. You can do a pixel to pixel punch in.

So what you are saying here are the features that exist on the fs100/700 such as red focus assist and zoom in focus assist wont work with ANY of these monitors? I do handheld run and gun work for active sports, would be excellent to have some sort of evf/monitor that could match what is already on the body. Something ergonomically sound. I don't want a large rig. I loved the formfactor of my hpx170

We're using the FS100 on an episodic TV show- narrative. Two cameras- one is equipped with the TV Logic and an older Marshall 6.5" with 768 lines of resolution. My focus puller PREFERS the Sony onboard monitor over the Marshall to pull focus. To my eyes the Marshall has a better image than the onboard monitor- by far. But my 1st ac thinks it's easier to judge focus with the on-board monitor.

I don't care what he uses as long as the footage is in focus.

Bottom line- try things for yourself. Opinions abound, but there are many ways to skin a cat, so to say.

I have a SmallHD DP6. Great image. Strong build. Also the company is very personable and have provided me great customer support beyond a year of ownership.

I am interested in the marshall 7'' but on B and H it says that the HDMI input and output are mini-HDMI:

Can somebody confirm that to me? It seems very weird that they would put a mini-HDMI instead of a standard one...

Sounds weird... 3Dbroadcastsales have it listed with normal HDMI:

http://www.3dbroadcastsales.com/pro...-HDMI-input-and-Dual-HDSDI-Output-Module.html

Also... check out the 3G and O version instead. The dealbreaker for me with the 7" Marshall is that the backside is modular to fit your needs....

just got an email from Marshall. the HDMI is standard, it's a mistake on the B&H website description

+! For SmallHD they make fine monitors and provide excellent value for the cost but above all they have the best warranty service and support I have ever had from any company EVER. I am a very big fan of theirs and their way of handling their clients.

The new Marshall was my choice do to the fact it has a
wave form monitor, false color, peaking ect... Works great and
i have no regrets buying it.

Just received my AC7 (SDI version non OLED) from SmallHD. Been playing with it for the past hour,
I managed to get the color and brightness about pretty spot on. To be fair it came in fairly close
so that was a plus. Currently I feel pretty confident using this monitor in the field, I was
wondering if the size would be an issue but it seems manageable. Will be doing an event
next weekend which will let me know exactly how I like it.

First hands on with it leaves me quite impressed.

That's really good to hear as I too just bought the AC7 SDI non OLED version (should be here in a few weeks) to use on my FS100 and Blackmagic Cam (whenever I get it). I've been using the SmallHD DP4 for years now and will still continue to use it, but wanted a better monitor for improved resolution.
