External Mic Settings

As I posted a couple of days ago, I just ordered the 100A. Well, it came today and I'm in heaven. I have a question about setting up the external mic I purchased with the camera.

I purchased the Panasonic Unidirectional Mic (f/AG-DVX100) and have it plugged into "Input 1". The "Input 1" setting is on "Mic" and the "CH 1 Select" is set to "Input 1". Under "Mic Power" I have "Input 1" set to "On".

Are these the proper settings to get the external mic functioning? I believe they are. I also noticed that the built in mic appears to be working at the same time. When shooting, is it ok to have both mics working? Or should I be recording with only one mic?

First thing s first, put on some headphones and try it,

Input 1 (on off) is for phantom power (+48v) you use that with condenser mics..

you also have a line and mic switch in the front of the cam..
