GH3 External HDMI monitor disables GH3 functions?

Apologies if this has been covered but before I buy a GH3 I would like to know how an external HDMI monitor affects certain functions such as ETC and expand focus with manual focus. These are disabled with the GH2. Is it the same with the GH3?
Any feedback from GH3 owners would be much appreciated.
 
I've only started to use my GH3, but I can say ETC mode works with a monitor on the GH3.

I don't have a GH2, but my understanding is on the GH2 some features disable the HDMI output. The HDMI output doesn't disable feature.

Does anyone use manual focus with an external HDMI monitor? If so does the expanded focus work with a GH3?
Any feedback would be appreciated as the manual is unclear.

I can confirm that this works with an external monitor. The expand focus only kicks in automatically when you're using a Lumix lens though so if you've got something like the Voigtlander, it won't kick in automatically.
 
Many thanks SuperSet. I only have Lumix lenses so far so with ETC and Expanded focus working with an external HDMI monitor I've run out of excuses not to buy a GH3!

I can also confirm that the expanded focus and ETC work on the GH3 when and HDMI monitor is connected. Finally! One of the pains of using my DP6 with a GH2 was having to disconnect the monitor every time I wanted to use one of these functions. But with the GH3, it all plays well together!
 
Many thanks for the confirmation dvbrother. I used my GH2 in an underwater housing with a housed DP4 and not being able to use ETC and manual focus assist was a major drawback. Thank heavens for the GH3!
 
BTW, one additional note, I noticed that my external HDMI monitor, the NEWAY CL76HO-X, reverts to a smaller, cropped display when using the focus assist. So, the left and right sides are cropped during the focus assist and return to normal 16:9 when done. I assume that this behavior is GH3-driven and not monitor-specific so if someone can also confirm, I'd appreciate it.
 
What about recording 1080/50p while using an external monitor? Does that work on the gh3? Because i know 720/50p is not working with the gh2 while using a monitor
