External DV Disconnect

Why does this flash when I try to record? It looks like it is stuck on pause.

You apparently changed your DV device control menu item to "external". Change it back to "internal" and it should solve the issue. "external" is only valid if you're connected via firewire to a deck (or other camera); it's a mode where the DVX won't record on its internal tape but will instead instruct the firewire-connected external deck to record.

Barry that makes sense. Do you know how to do this? This was set already before I received this as this is a used DVX100.

I guy I know who use to own a DVX said this...

I'm quite sure there is no setting for that. It's automated when you go to VCR mode and just record through Firewire. It sounds like something is wrong with the camera's firewire plug. It's thinking something is plugged in.

No, just go to the menus and go to OTHER FUNCTIONS->DV CONTROL and set it to "OFF".

I thank you too Barry,I just got my DVX Last night,and was playing around
and end up with the same problem.
more then likely am going to have to buy your book will it Be going on sale any time soon ?

Barry,

When the DVX is connected via firewire to a laptop running OnLocation can you trigger OnLocation to start recording when the record button on the DVX is pressed??
Also, can the clock in OnLocation be synced to the DVX's timecode?
