External Batt for BT-LH1700W?

Hey,

I shot something last month using the BT1700 LCD monitor and got a Dolly pack to run the thing all day. It worked great.

I am now working with a DP on an upcoming feature who purchased his own BT-LH1700 and wants to buy an external block for it.

I am bit out of the loop and new, efficient block batteries on the market. I think even maybe one of the newer light weight belt batts might work just as well?

Just looking for some links and thoughts, and something I can buy locally...like tomorrow ;)

Thanks in Advance,
David

I've read that there are companies that make cables to use inexpensive power tool batteries with 4-pin cables for film equipment.
I'll dig around and see what I can find.

Hey David,

I was planning to do the exact same thing when my monitor arrives. Searching the boards, I bookmarked this page:

It's a great overview on how to make it work. I also remember this site being mentioned for the tools necessary:

http://batteries4broadcast.com/extras.htm

From what I understand, you can attach the v-mount plate to the back and connect the 4-pin power tap to the DC out on the monitor. When you break it down it's:

V-Mount Plate - $65.00
4-Pin Power Tap - $35.00
V-Mount Battery w/ Charger - $300.00

TOTAL= $400.00

That's not too bad considering you can take the 17" anywhere now without worrying about power.

Thanks for the link.

Not exactly what I am wanting to do.

I want a dolly pack to plug. One dolly pack will run the monitor all day. But I know various companies make them...just for the life of me I can't remember any names except for dolly pack and the link i listed in my 3rd post.
