External 1394 Disconnect msg- can't record!

Ok I am sure its just growing pains with the camera - BUT I cant seem to record in 1080 60i or many other modes (except for the pn modes) I am getting this annoying
"External 1394 Disconnect" message and I cant understand why. Nothing is connected to the firewire at all. Did I hit something in a menu somewhere I am not aware of?

Sounds like you have your camera set to external 1394 control.

Go to the "OTHER FUNCTIONS" menu (the last menu in the list)

Go to "1394 CONTROL" and make sure it is set to "OFF"


When the camera is set to External 1394 control it won't even try to record anything to the P2 card or Tape, it is simply trying to send the signal out the firewire port to another recording device. If you don't have anything hooked up, the camera will warn you that the device isn't connected.

I imagine the reason it will allow you to record PN modes is because the PN modes are not sent via the firewire port and can only be recorded via P2 cards.
 
That was exactly the problem- Thank you very much- I was starting to get VERY frustrated. I hate being a newbie.

As well as the Bootcamp DVDs.
