extent range of EVF

Do you guys think that with this tool you can extent the the range of the EVF to the left. In other words will it fit ??? And if it fits maybe the cable is not long enough??

I will try to get some info of my cam dealer and will let you know. At least it is a good starting point design wise if this one does not fit for designing a new one :-)

It might work but you'll probably need to add about six inches to your neck to see through the viewfinder when you have the camera on your shoulder.

I have one of those to put my two G2 radio mics on.
It is a lot smaller than the EVF mounting set-up and may not be strong enough for it.
FYI the plastic locking wheels are about 2cm wide.

Why ?????, not if you use your left eye which is the whole aim of using this piece of tooling. The point is that you can not shift the EVF far enough to the left to be comfortable for your left eye (actually neck !!!). Also when you use a headphone you will touch the cam casing which cause handeling noise to be picked up by the mic. So if it is possible to stick this piece of tooling on the HPX rails and the EVF on this tooling you can extent the range by 1 or 2 inches which is enough.

edit : I see your point now about streching your neck !!!

How expensive was it? If not so expensive I will buy it anyway since it can be used as starting model to design something more robust (maybe from aluminium with a black coating). Is the rail from plastic? And what is the problem with "FYI the plastic locking wheels are about 2 cm wide", are they to big or small???? The rail of the HPX is also plastic if I remember well. Does the brass piece fit onto the rail of the HPX (to test this you have to remove two screws on the left end of the rail to be able to remove the "end lock" of the rail.

edit : now I have a closer look at the HPX picture if you use this tooling you can not use the on-camera mic mount :-(((((((((((

The solution is much easier namely replace the mounting nut with which the EVF is connected to the cam with a modified one which has a metal plate with the length of the slot in the evf. Add an extra nut at the left side of the metal plate to tighten the strip in the rail of the EVF. This way the mic mount can still be used. Hope it is understandable??? What do you guys think of this solution?? Maybe Panasonic can make such tooling?? Question for Jan ????
It should not be expensive, the original design of the HPX stays the same (just an extra accessory), and Ricfic the distance between the eye and the evf stays the same :-)). I think more people are interested if the evf could be shifted a little more to the left.

A custom fabrication shop could come up with something a heck of a lot better but is the EVF cable long enough to reach out as far as you want to go?

Wouldn't be cheap to do a custom solution but it wouldn't be that difficult either for a skilled metalsmith.

How long is the EVF cable (still waiting for my HPX to come so can not chck this).

Based on the description in the URL to the non-existent image, I bet it was this:

Not sure how it would work for a viewfinder.... but since the viewfinder can apparently come off (see this thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=212979&page=2) it might be worth a try...

They seem to make them in various sizes (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=rycote+hot+shoe+extension&N=0&InitialSearch=yes). I suppose the thing to do is to see if the camera's viewfinder mount is the same size as a standard hot shoe mount.
