Does anyone know anything about ExpressCameras.com? They're offering the DVX100b for $1100.00. Seems almost too cheap.

I need to get the camera for a job soon.

i think you know in your heart the answer to this question.if you don't mind throwing away 1100 dollars express is for you.
 
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Buy from EBAY....type DVX100B and look for a company called EMPIREDIGITAL. I bought a dvx from them and so have a few other friends. Great, and best price. Next day shipping FREE!!! I even...bargained with them to get about 100 bucks off.
 
Don't buy from Ebay. The camera is most likely gray market. You'll get the goods at the price you paid for but if something happens the few hundreds you save are all going toward repair.
 
Empire Digital? Clearly a gray-market seller, and has 444 negative reviews. No rebates will apply, no free P2 card for the HVX, no $500 check for the DVX...
 
Hahaha! Are you guys kidding me? I got the camera for 2,348....but you guys are suggesting i spend $3000 and get some $300 rebate!? I got free next day shipping, I don't care if the camera is from korea. Its a NTSC, I have had no problems with it whatsoever, and thats probably because I treat it with care. But you guys keep tellilng people to go through B&H photo for a dvx thats about THOUSANDS of dollars more. I got a four year check up and warranty from EMPIREDIGITAL, I recieved my camera and headed over to the store to check it out and make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, I went to a store thats 20 minutes from my home and got a free cleaning. The warranty was real. If anything happens to the camera, or if at anytime I need a cleaning. You guys will only trust a company when their DVX's cost 5K and there HVX's 7K. What a joke.

that's great that you got a good deal, and are happy with your transaction. Many are not, however, so naturally it is wise to recommend a company that has a [close to] 100% customer satisfaction rate.
Also, I think your posts are HIGHLY exaggerated, which is a neat rhetorical tactic, but not at all accurate.
Like Barry mentioned, once you calculate all rebates (and they can be SUBSTANTIAL, i.e. 8GB card with HVX), the fantabulous deal on eBay suddenly doesn't look so great.

Besides, as a RULE I'd never buy an HVX from a company that sells it packaged with a $20.00 tripod. :)
 
I doubt that; Saiaf's been with us for over 7 months and has made many posts that have nothing to do with Empire. But the posts about Empire are misleading or flat-out inaccurate; for example, Empire is unquestionably NOT an authorized dealer. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we find out that Empire is just another face to the same Crooklyn operation that runs ExpressCameras.com.
 
Okay, edit -- looks like Empire isn't the same shop as ExpressCameras. It looks like it is in fact a different shop, the notorious PriceRitePhoto.

Unless Empire Photo and Empire Digital are operated by different operators, that is, but the tactics and pricing schemes and packages are all very similar to those that have caused so many negative reviews.

Haha no I don't work for Empire digital, but I think I talk like this because I'm so annoyed by the high prices other companies give just because they are authorized. And by the way, I have a story posted up about my experience with EXPRESS CAMERAS, and PLASMAWORLD, etc. I know those are the scammers from brooklyn and if I could get my hands on the owners of those sites.................oh boy. I had the worst experience and actually managed to get my way out of it when I "trusted" that expresscameras and royalcameras were real. I was going to go ahead and buy from them, right? And so I did....I made an order online. Then suddenly I started reading about how they are a scam website, and I thought OH HOLY SH!T! What am i going to do. $2,000 Oh my god, oh my god. I already placed the order, credit card number and all. I'm like...alright, I'll call and I'll cancel. Then I read on about how people tried that but got screwed. They'd call to cancel but the number they called was like a "receptionists" number.

Mike was the owner of the comapnies, the same guy that would swear at you in a profane matter and yell and swear some more about some of the worst things you could imagine.
Every person mentioned how they kept getting screwed over and lost money, and I grew extremely worried. I knew I lost the money, but I came up with a simple plan. When I called to ask if it was a NTSC camera, just to double check, mike said YES!!!!!! IT SAYS IT ON THE WEBSITE!!! He then shut the phone in my face. And this is what I did to get my money back, I gave them a call once more:

You see, I love your guys' company but the thing is I bought 3 cameras from you guys. I want you to cancel ONE of them because I realized its not as good as the other 2 that I ordered from you.
(The lady went quiet, you could tell she wasn't used to this)

AND THAT WAS THAT.

I never ordered 3 cameras, It was a setup to show them that they still had me. And When i told people about it here on dvx, everyone was like really happy for me and said it was very smart on my part. THAT was my experience.
