Barry Green himself invested in the PCIMCIA adapter card to try this out with Compact Flash and it failed. The only way currently to record to compact flash from the HVX, HPX, or any Panasonic camera is through the Convergent Design Flash XDR or nanoFlash.

Your SxS card through express adapter to PCIMCIA P2 Slot will fail as well. SxS and P2 are formatted differently. If it was possible, we'd all already be using it!

Did BArry do that with a standard CF card? You can get the Red CF cards that have a higher bandwidth for $550, how about with a RED CF?

where is Barry can we get a word from the horses mouth !!! Like what speed was the CF card, what was HPX reply when it saw a CF into its P2 thru adopter (i am sure it would be saying mmmm i will tell panny folks that you are screwing-up me)

Doesn't work. We've been down this road; remember folks, we're going on the third year of P2 for the masses. We've tried all these things, and we were trying them back when a 4GB card cost $1500 or whatever.

If it's not a P2 card, it says "incompatible media" when you plug it in. Just because something fits in a slot, that doesn't mean it'll work.

those guys must have made some funky tech inside the card to not allow such usages ...

have u tried it with latest 45MBps 8GB 16 GB 32GB CF cards from Lexal / sandisk ??? may be it works cos it has more space & better speeds...since Hpx wont be able to shoot record HD on 4GB cards...may be u can try a SD mode recording ,,,,,,,, hope some thing comes out & make our lives easier than coslt P2 cards but it should be in side P2 slots only... which means some competition to make the cards v v v cheap....

Not gunna happen my friend.

Fuji is supposed to be making P2 cards, but they're going to be around the same approximate cost.

You have several options... Straight to Disk via Capture Card, FlashXDR/nanoFlash to CF cards, or a Firestore.

Recording directly to CF cards in camera isn't going to happen in this generation of P2 cameras. I'm not sure if it ever will. That's what the big hype about the Canon 5D MkII and Nikon D90 dSLR cameras was all about... cheaper media... bigger sensors... and easy to use with your still lenses.
