Express Card reader/adapter

Will someone list some of the express card reader for desktop PC or express card adapter for laptop that is able to read the SxS card? I know that the Sony SxS card already can but it's too pricy for me. And yes, what brand or model of laptops that has a built-in express card reader that is able to read the Sony SxS card?

Thanks a bunch!

I'd like to know this, I'm sure there must be a cheaper alternative to the Sony card reader. The price for it is extortionate.

There is a unit made to fit into tower units. I thought I had bookmarked it, but now I can't find it.

Most newer laptops have expresscard slots. They are replacing PC card slots.

Every laptop I've seen at Costco has had the expresscard 54 slots, not the 34 that Sony recommends.

And I was also under the impression that these readers connect to PCI express slots, found on the latest motherboards. Anyone have details on this?

Well I purchased a dirt cheap HP laptop, the DV6000, for $550 last November, and it can download a 16 Gb card in no time.

For desktop systems, either a USB connection (1.7x realtime), or installation of a $26 PCIe ExpressCard reader into an available slot, will provide fast downloads at the editing suite. The downside is that you have to reach around the back of the PC to insert the SxS card.

ExpressCard 54 is fine. You can use ExpressCard 34 cards in an ExpressCard 54 slot. The ExpressCard 54 slot is more desirable because it can use both 34mm and 54mm cards, whereas an ExpressCard 34 slot can only use 34mm cards, not 54mm ones.

See my thread about Lenovo laptops -- they're absolutely killer and incredibly cheap, and the new R61 I got includes both ExpressCard and PC Card slots.
