I'm new to the digital world and I'm still not sure how much one could do in camera in terms of exposure. Everything I shoot inside looks dark, even when it's fairly lite with practicals. Please give advice to a rookie.
The DVX is fairly sensitive for a DV cam. It is more sensitive in interlaced mode than progressive, but it's still pretty good. That said, a couple 60w bulbs in the room probably aren't enough light.
So, with auto-iris on what F-stop is the camera registering under your lighting?
Some of the scene files (F1-F6) have auto-iris set low (slightly underexposed) to protect highlights, which could also be the problem.
Make sure the ND Filter ( Nuetral Density ) is not on and your iris is wide open. The camera holds up pretty well in low light, so it must be one of the two.
