Exposure problem with Nex-5t and EF adapter

I bought a new Nex-5t on an Amazon lightning deal and mostly think it's great. However, there's one issue that might be fatal for my purposes. When I attach my Canon lenses via a Fotga adapter, the exposure in video mode gets a mind of its own. I demonstrate here:

The problem is severe enough that most footage shot in full sun becomes unusable.

I've set everything to manual and turned off every conceivable automatic option in the menus. When I put the Sony kit lens back on, the body operates as it should. All ideas and solutions appreciated.

Alright well it seems people could give a flying f---, but in case anybody in the future of time and space has this issue, I figured it out. At one point I switched lenses and stuck the 1.8 on my 7D, and noticed that the aperture was wide open--even though the screen on the NEX-5t had still shown the aperture stopped down.

It turns out every time I hit record, the camera (or adapter, whichever you want to blame) was opening the lens to maximum, without changing the indicated f-number on the LCD. You can, however, still adjust the aperture. The trick: spin it toward open until the LCD registers the lowest available f-number, and then you can stop it down as normal. Alternatively, figure out the right f-number, then open the lens wide, hit record, and return the aperture to the correct setting. I don't know why the camera does this, but at least there's a solution.
