exposure lock on d5000?

thinking of getting a d5000 and eventually upgrading to a gh1 or the next model that is released. I love footage from the d90 but I've seen its dreadful auto exposure jumps every now and then. I recently found that you can lock the exposure and I was wondering if you can do this on the d5000 as well?

Thanks.

Also, someone told me that the video was slightly worse on the d5000 compared to the 90. I said this was probably bs since they essentially have the same "brain."

maybe I'm way off. not sure

The video is the same, I dont think its worse. And yes you set the exposure lock the same way. Its a good camera.

Looks like the Canon 7D is going to dominate this

1080p, 30 or 24 fps, audio input, full manual controls etc...

Should start about $16-1700

I got my d90 for only $650 so ill he happy with it for now.

naw, 7D will dominate. I mean you get more features, like dual digic 4 processors, dual memory card slots, 8fps shooting stills and not to mention the much more vast array of canon glass.

meh. its all mac vs pc to me. It comes down to what you work best with rather than what has the most things

Nikon threw the first punch with the D90, but Canon has responded furiously.

It seems like Canon is a couple steps ahead of Nikon. If I didn't have a stack of Nikon lenses I would be getting a 7D. Heck, I might get a 7D anyway.

Kind of what im thinking, I only have 3 nikon lenses, and none are worth more than $100 or so.

I missed out on the 19% off pre-order via tiger direct yesterday.

(Brought the price down to like $1380)

:(

AlexD, get yourself a D5000. It is not identical to the D90 for movies (AE lock function is however identical). The D5000's range of tweaks that are applicable to movie mode (including the Picture Control System) do not have the latitude of the D90, but at the budget, and with what you say you're comfortable with, the D5000 is an excellent camera. It will give you the kinds of images you have been admiring from the D90. Keep in mind that the D5000 LCD screen has dramatically less resolution than the D90.

The Canon 7D is a crazy comparison, given that it is more than twice as expensive.
