Exposure difference FS700 VS Odyssey 7Q

Trying to get my head around the differnce in exposure readings with the internal FS700 zebra's as opposed to the Odyssey's zebra's.

FS700 set to RAW 4K, Odyssey set to 4K2HD -25p. Picture profile rec709 800%.

To get the zebras to match on both units at a given exposure, I have the FS700 set at 55% and the odyssey @ 70%. Any idea's why this is the case?

And which one is actually 70%?

Thanks- Tim.

Mitch, if you dont know can I direct this to somebody at CD? Basically trying to use the SD card internal record as a proxy, but the exposure differnce is vast and need to know why?
Shouldn't they match?

Thanks

The CD WFM and the WFM in PP match perfectly. There is no reason to use zebras.
If you don't know how to properly read a WFM it's time to learn.

How are you processing the RAW? It all depends on that. Yes there is a big difference between the actual RAW and the internal AVCHD but it's all based on workflow - the data is all there correct though, you're not missing anything.

So if you can let us know your post workflow for your RAW then perhaps we can help?

cheers
Paul

I think his concern is that the SD card food doesn't match the exposure of the ProRes from the 7Q. Which means that if he does an edit with the SD card, then later replaces those files with the ProRes files, there will be an exposure discrepancy.

Sorry, just saw this thread. It's a holiday weekend.

We tried to optimize the files and our processing led to a different exposure level. We realize that this may be more efficient use of the data in our book but does not integrate well with the workflow of others and makes the system more difficult to use. So the upcoming firmware changes things so that the exposures match far more closely.

Thanks Mitch, exactly what I wanted to hear.

And Rejdmast I can read a waveform. Maybe you should learn to read a post?
