Exposure and diting

I have a DVX-100B and am using it to shoot pop-warner football games. My brother and I have ran into a problem with one location that has a lot of shade covering half of the field by the end of the day. The colors are off and we have set the white balance and used the ND filter as suggested by the camera. We watch our iris controls but we are both fairly new to this camera and don't know if there is something in the menu setup that needs changing. We have left everything at factory settings so far. Also, during editing of one of the games the exposure on one of the plays was very bright while the rest of the footage looked normal. The color looked good but when I tried to change the brightness level it looked washed out and sometimes when we are shooting early in the morning the grass will look lime green on the television. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
