Exporting Uncompressed

Hey guys,

I looked into Media Composer and it looks awesome. I'm hoping to switch real soon.

Any how, I would like to know if I can export from Avid MC to lets say Nuke with out rendering or compressing my original footage?

Thanks guys.

Yes, you can export uncompressed. If Nuke is installed on the same machine as your Avid you can export a quicktime reference, which is just a file that reads like a quicktime but references the original Avid media, so there's no compression at all. The Quicktime Reference export takes just a few seconds, too.

Michael.

Thanks Butcher,

However, once the quick time reference is in Nuke (or any other composite software) does sending it back to Avid MC, with the added special effects add compression?

Thanks,

You can send it back out of Nuke as a quicktime reference as well. That will be sending out an uncompressed version from that end.
