Exporting/transferring footage with another camera

Hi all again, sorry to sound like a shmuck but...I have been using my freinds pd170 to export all my dvx footage to my laptop and he wants it back. I have only ever recorded with the dvx and want to save wear and tare on it by buying a little consumer mini dv camcorder to export with, are there any that won't do the job or can I just get a little cheapy from ebay? cheers
 
You could get just about anything, as long as it's a DV camera. I remember hearing that there was some JVC deck that didn't transport the pulldown flags, but that was years and years ago, so I doubt that would be an issue today.

Don't be afraid of using your DVX though; it's a professional broadcast camcorder and its a rugged little beastie. You don't want to put thousands of hours on the heads, but the occasional tape capture is not going to hurt anything.
