Exporting the music tracks seperate from my dialouge tracks from the timeline.

I am working on editing a documentary, and I'm having an audio guy tweak the audio levels a bit. He would like me to export the dialogue tracks separately from the music tracks. Can anyone give me the lowdown on how to do this?

OMF is probably your best option. Ask your sound guy. If he's worth his salt, he'll know what you're talking about. OMF exports the individual audio tracks, complete with individual clips, intact and in-sync. You'll want to send him a QuickTime with BITC for reference as well.

A couple of notes, as you export your OMF:

- The OMF has a 2GB size limit. If you have planned properly, you're editing your doc in 20-ish minute sections (if it's longer than 45 minutes).
- FCP will ask you for a couple of options... do not include fades, and add handles of at least 3 seconds.
- Be sure to include a 2-pop on each sequence that you export. This will help ensure sync.
