Hmmm, Avid Free DV is really limited. I'm wondering if you have a compatible version of Quicktime installed?

What are your system and software specs?

Another question,

Where are you playing back from? Are you playing back from your internal Hard Drive, an external Hard Drive, or a Data DVD.

If you are playing back from an external hard drive, how is it connected to the computer?

I am playing it back from my external hard drive it is hooked up through a usb. into quick time 7.15

The skipping playback that you describe can be caused by the drive being too slow or the processor being underpowered (as noted by DC and Gordon). It doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with the file. Has your friend tried importing the file into their system? Step one is to determine if there really is a problem - send a short test clip over to your friend for a test.

You could also try dropping it onto your internal, and see if that fixes it.

Which USB is your hard drive plugged into? Is it a front side port, or a rear port?

its the rear port. I am trying to get a hold of my friend to check that out waiting for an answer back from him. thank you so much for responding to me i have been very frustrated.. i will let you know when i get it imported into my friends computer and if it worked..
