Hello,
I recently shot a movie using a DVX-100A and now have major difficulties exporting from Avid Xpress Pro. We shot it in 24p, captured it using the right pulldown and all.
The specific issue is this: When I play the sequences and footage in Avid, it looks fine, and I think that our capture was not the problem at all. It's fluid and sharp. The problem arises when I try to export anything into a QT file - whether I do Same as Source, with or without the Avid DV Codec, or a full quality QT file with the Mpeg4 codec, or anything else for that matter (I've tried quite a few different options), the motion always appears slightly choppy, jittery, and has an "interlaced" look, that is, with many scanlines showing whenever there is movement in the image. I believe some call this problem "tearing".
I have been trying to get this to work by sending the file over to Sorenson Squeeze, and then using this software to make an mpeg-2 file and burning it on DVD - but my tests in this regard were unsuccessful since the footage tends to look even worse after the conversion to mpeg-2.
Does anybody know what could be going wrong?
My system is an AMD Athlon 64 with a GEForce 6600, the version of Avid I am using is 5.2.3.
