Exporting from Avid is jaggy

Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching and came up empty.

I have a 23.97 ntsc project in Avid Express Pro HD (5.2).

When I export the sequence to WMV, I get horrid interlaced jaggies (purely horizontal on contrasty edges) between frames, even though in the composer window it shows clean frames.

Anyone have any ideas how to do this? My details are below:

Camera: Sony A1U, recording HDV 1080 in Cineframe 24 mode.

Exporting in DV to Avid 23.97 NTSC project. It captures to bins and allows me to create sequences and edit.

Now, Exporting my edited sequence.... I'm attaching a grab of my export screen.

I always find that WMV and AVI files look odd out of Avid. Try using quicktime if that helps.

Ugh. QT is so flaky on my PC that I tend to avid it at all costs.

Maybe it's time for me to learn the rest of the workflow out to DVD... I'm really trying to figure out how good or bad this camera might be for actual cinematic use.... but my Avid skills are holding me back.

Curious, are the lines you referring to look like interlace lines or more like stair-stepping in areas of diagonal edges?

Not sure at what stage you are seeing the interlaced-looking lines, but if it is after Sorensen, then you may have to turn the deinterlacing filter off or, depending on version add a filter to turn it off.

There are other, more detailed, posts on this board about that issue.
