Exporting Audio from premiere CS3 to Audition

Hi All

I've just finished a short film editing in premiere CS3. Aiming to create a good soundmix. Ideally i want to export the audio as somesort of OMF type media (it seems CS3 doesn't do OMF's but CS4 does but i reverted to CS3 becuase of the buggy issues with CS4) with all of the clips on different tracks and the video, so i can sync it up in adobe audition and get on with the mixdown.
Am I talking rubbish or is there a way to do this. any help really appreciated

Thank you

Well you've got problems on both ends, Audition is terrible with video and can't handle OMF. CS3 can't export OMF (there are supposedly some ways around this, but I've never gotten any of them to work)

You should be able to export individual sound clips directly to Audition for tweaking though.

What's the reason you want to do your final mix in Audition (or any other audio program)? Honestly if your audio requirements are minimal, then I would say just do it in Premiere. Once audio is digital it's the same whether you render it in Premiere or the latest and greatest audio programs.

slicker

Thought i might be able to acheive a more specific sound mix with more bells and whistles. create something alot more slicker with something like audition or soundbooth. No?

A true DAW does make audio post a lot easier, if you know what you're doing. But Soundbooth is not a full DAW, only a sound editor. And Audition, while it is a multi-track DAW, cannot import OMF files.

To work with OMF, you'd need to take it to something like ProTools or Cubase. (ProTools LE cannot import an OMF without the addition of OMFTool or the DV ToolKit, and Cubase LE cannot handle OMF at all.)

For now, you may be better off mixing within Premiere even though mixing audio in an NLE is not ideal.
