Hi,
i need to export a 2 minute clip of various shots imported from AVCHD to DNxHD 175.

i need the clip to keep the highest quality possible, but-

to still be around 1-2G in size..
can someone please recommend me good export settings that will provide me with a nice compromise
concerning the file size? and also in a friendly codec.

thanks

If you just go down to DNxHD 115, then you can make it fit in 1.4GB.

Should be a fast transcode with zero issues.

Otherwise if you want it smaller there are lots of options. Go to H264 (but beware gamma shift issues) - or the old favorite, PhotoJPEG.

ok, thanks.
so- what export settings? same as source? DNxHD is not so friendly with various players.. :(
trying it at the moment. i'll be glad for some help, thanks.

Are you sending this file to a client for viewing? Are you sending the file to a motion designer for FX work?

If you're sending the file out for additional work you should export a DNxHD as Bruce mentioned and have your contractor install the DNxHD codecs if necessary. The DNxHD codecs are free to download and asking a motion designer to install a code package shouldn't be an issue.

If you're delivering to a client you should export a high quality DNxHD file and pass that through Sorenson (or any other compression program) to compress to h.264.
