Exporting 720p to Web via quicktime conversion

Hello I recently moved into the HD format and have been filming 720pn24 format. I have been attempting to export my sequence for web via quicktime conversion and I can't seem to figure out how to export in the same aspect ratio (widescreen), instead it ends up in the sd aspect ratio with a wide quicktime viewing box. Does anyone have advice as to how I can export a low res web file and a high res web file that have the hd widesceen look and not squeeze the video. I am sending the files for prospective use on a sports website. Thanks.

I usually use compressor, but FCP Quicktime Conversion does pretty much the same thing. Make sure your export preserving aspect ratio and with 16:9 dimensions.

One other comment - sometimes quicktime plays video files squeezed rather than 16:9 (even though they are 16:9). Command + J will show you whether the aspect ratio is being played correctly.

here's arecipe that works well for me:

Export using QT conversion
select BRAODBAND HIGH or MEDIUM
options - select custom aspect ratio of 480x270 (for 16:9)
select h264 codec

this will give you a nice sized good quality file for web upload.

Thanks

Thanks guys, I have compressor also, so I can use that to export as well. Just starting to get used to the P2 workflow a bit.
