Export to tape help needed w FC5, Z1U

Hey guys this is my first time exporting back to tape with HDV and the Z1u with final cut 5, When I go to edit to tape I get an error message saying HDV is not supported by edit to tape.
anyone know the correct setting and procedure? I have herd of people exporting back to tape with HDV and final cut 5. I am not being progressive with my efforts. please help. Thanks.

The message means exactly that. Edit to tape is not supported with HDV in FCP5. You can only 'Print to Video' straight from the timeline. If you hit the 'Print to Video' tab, FCP will take a while conforming your sequence to an MPEG-2 stream (which can take a long time dependingon how long and complicated your sequence is). Then, it will tell you it's ready to lay off to tape. Hit your record button on your deck or camera, hit OK and your sequence should stream to the camera. For whatever reason, you can't EDIT to TAPE, so if you want to lay off to a specific timecode or do an insert edit you're SOL.
