Export to Premier

OK ... so don't get mad. I used to be an Avid Express user when I was working for someone else. I have Avid Express DV and Adobe Premier Pro now.

I've gotten used to Adobe Premier Pro and practically forgetten most everything about Avid.

I just videotaped a wedding, which I NEVER do. I did it as a favor. Just like an idiot, I decided to upload all my footage to Avid because I thought video editing in that software would be eaiser. Well not if you've forgotten everything.

Now I need to get all the footage to Premier in the fastest way possible. Any suggestions with instructions?

Wouldn't it be possible to export the OMF / MXF files from Xpress into Sorenson Squeeze or another compression suite / transcoder like CleanerXL or Canopus Procoder 2 and transfer the files into a format with the least amount of compression to maintain quality (I'm thinking MPEG-2 DVD mastering quality if source is SD) and simply import the resulting files into Premiere?

Or you could go the Quicktime Reference route (see "Importing clips" thread).

Premiere and Vegas open almost everything, even .VOB files natively. (They don't hold a candle to Avid though IMO.... and I've handled all three.)
