Export codec advice?

I have a tga sequence exported from after effects that is 1.4TB in size that I need to backup to a smaller compressed file size just in case I need it again but I don't want to save the enormous tga sequence. It took over 34hrs to render to TGA. What codec is a good choice? The problem is it's 11520 x 2160 resolution at 59.94 so many of the codecs are not an option. I'm using after effects cs6 and I don't care about some quality loss. So far I've tried QuickTime and it was about 744GB but I'd like to get it smaller than that

png files as a sequence would probably be smaller, you could try jpeg as well, but you may start to see some compression artifacts when you try to get it smaller enough.

Tif files can include compression while keeping layers and alpha information if needed. Not sure if that would save any space or not. Zipping the final folder as someone else suggested might help.

If CS6 has JPEG2000 that could work (Wavelet), or as suggested earlier, JPEG/MJPEG. Or if there's a Digital Cinema option (DCP), which also uses JPEG2000: http://www2.engr.arizona.edu/~bilgin/publications/ISCAS2006.pdf
The good thing about JPEG2000 vs. JPEG (or ProRes etc.) is you'll never see macroblock artifacts.

In PP CC, DCP can't do past 2K.

Surprisingly H.265 supports 11K- did a test and even at the somewhat light 60Mbit/s it looked pretty good 1:1 (embedded a detailed 4K video in the 11Kx2160 frame; "black bars" on either side of the 4K material perhaps why look so good at low bitrate). Still worth a test.

GoPro / Cineform is also wavelet and works at 11K.

In PP CC 2019 ProRes can export to 11K.

EDIT: JPG2000 was moved to MXF OP1a and is now limited to 4K max. JPEG/ProRes/GoPro-Cineform are good options.

Perhaps rent/borrow a 2019 tool?
