Export audio only with time code

Is there a way to do this? What I'm trying to accomplish is the same thing a sound person would do, record audio at the same time as the audio being recorded on camera. Just eliminate the need to sync the sound person's mixer/recorder. It is just for one interview and the sound person will be plugged into my FS7. (I don't have the ability to sync code.)

Are you wanting to record sound directly into FCP, independent of the camera? That seems... odd. And if audio is recording into your FS7, you already have a sync'd track embedded in the video (external recorder quality will be better, but still).

With FCP X's audio sync tool, I'm not sure I understand the need for what you're asking. Seems like a whole lot of trouble for very little return.

That, and I don't think what you're wanting to do can be done, if I even undertand the question fully.

I want to take the sync'd audio from the internal recording, import into FCPX, and then export and audio file with timecode to give to a traveling field producer to get the interview transcribed with time code notes. I'm not the editor.

Ah! Your original question was a bit confusing. What you really want to know, simply, is, "Can I export audio-only from a video clip and maintain TC for a transcriptionist?"

Try THIS. Select audio-only on the export. Use QT outside of Final Cut to double-check your results.

However, is audio-only a specific request from the transcriptionist? Every show I've worked on sends compressed video with BITC (20 years ago, it was a VHS copy with BITC).
