Explaining the settings

say if you have all the different settings at 0. And do all the CC and tweaking in post.

Will that result in grain in the pictures? Because i have an impression when i CC in FCP the picture lose som quality and gets grainy?

So. If i want a specific look, should i change in-camera settings? Or find a way to do it on post? Whats the best way to do it?

And can someone explain what EXACTLY the different settings do to the picture. I cant get that information out of the manual...

ok. i will do so. But i live in Norway and for the time i am a vey poor student. So i have to wait at least a month. And i am dong a music video shoot in a couple of weeks. I am just looking for the settings to get the best quality and do CC and tweaking in post.

Besides it looking good, what look are you going for? 24p? 4:3 or 16:9?

Most people turn the Detail settings down -3 or -4 (I've gone further than that with good results). Master pedestal around -6. If you want to be safe and CC in post, CINELIKE_D will capture the widest dynamic range. It may look a bit flat to start, but you can adjust the contrast in post.

Color phase/temp you usually don't have to touch unless you are trying to get a cooler/warmer look in-camera. MATRIX most people usually use CINE, which will give some rich colors.

THIN/THICK will depend on your aspect ratio and intended output.

Easiest and quickest path for low-budget 16:9 24p is SQUEEZE mode with 24pA and THIN vertical detail setting. All other settings to taste.
