Expert Question (building a minolta adapter)

Hi,

i have a Sony HDR-XR500. I found a old Minolta AF 35-105 lens.

My question is: It's possible to build a adapter to be able to plugin this minolta adapter on my sony cam?

If yes:

1) Please tell me which advantage a have using this lens on my cam.
2) How to build a adapter
3) Is there a cheap adapter on the market to use this minolva lens on my sony cam?

a) You're talking about a 35mm adapter, the advantage would be you would get the depth of field and field of view characteristic of this lense.
b) Read the stickies on the top of the page on adapter construction.
c) Maybe. The main adapter brand will all work, but I doubt if you will call them "cheap." Google 35mm adapter and you'll find a bunch of cheaper versions and then come back here to research user feedback.

If I understand what you are posting, you may not quiet have the idea of how these things work. These links are stickies for a reason, they explain stuff reallly well. Also, your lens was an Auto focus? You need to check that out as well. You need a manual focus lens.
look at the major maufacturers of 35mm adaptors web sites (Letus, Cinevate , Redrockmicro and others etc..) you can see some of the products they offer and they have info on what they do and how they do it.

after reading around a bit more myself. I have read where some folks are using auto lenses in some cases? I cannot comment on that other than to say that is what I read. Someone else will have to tell you about that. Anyone? How does that work with an auto focus lens. I was under the immperssion it could not work?

I was in zurich in switzerland in a shot. i was with my camera hdr-xr500 there. they put the letus35 mini on my cam and a nikon lens. i don't remember wich it was..

i will buy this adapter and a nice lens. I hope this is ok :=)
