Short Experimental video I made for a summer film camp I'm enrolled in. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

some nice shots, DOF was a little thin, but i guess could be an artistic choice for the feel you were going for. I htink you successfully created an eerie sort of atmosphere, could have used some more story and more length IMO.

Hey Jon, thanks for taking the time to watch and respond.

The ultra thin DOF was actually done in Magic Bullet Looks. The original shots were much cleaner, but I felt that the pseudo tilt shift effect added to the mysteriousness. I'm happy to hear you found it eery. I agree it lacks length and a developed story. The assignment limited us to using a maximum of ten shots, no dialogue, and no longer than two minutes. But I may re-explore this concept more fully in the future.

Hey Eric,

I gotta say, props for adding a creepy feeling to the clip. I find this more like an experimental clip, rather than a 'short film', however it works for what it is. I wasn't too big of a fan of the DOF, I agree it probably adds the the mystery, but maybe tone it down a bit and see if it keeps that feel (it was a bit distracting for me).

I'd love to see some more, i felt this tension rising as the seconds went by and expected something freaky to happen (I'm assuming that was your intention). Are you planning on doing something else with that 'mood'?

Thanks! Definitely Experimental. I will try toning down the DOF to see what effect that has on the video. As far as teh mood goes, it is definitely something I intend to explore further. It is cool to play with suspense and tension. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback!

As something experimental it looks very interesting. Maybe the voice in stead of whispering you could have let the actor speak silently. So it's a little more understandable.

Although the whispering effect itself is also nice.

Only thing I wonder is the story itself. But it's maybe because it's experimental ?

The whispering was not supposed to be understandable, but I wonder how the effect would change if I approached it your way. The story itself is minimal. I had some ideas of the direction in general, but I wanted to leave it a little bit open ended. I was more concerned with trying to create a certain mood and atmosphere on this one. Most of my videos are very standard with beginning, middle, and end all neatly lined up with a definite plot, so I wanted to try something new and outside of my comfort zone. Thanks dre!
