I hadnt looked at the Tamrons until now, and the price point is very enticing. Has anyone had experience with either or both of these lenses? Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 or the 28-78 f/2.8

I have had experience with a compromised Tamron lens...the 18-270. I say compromised because all super zooms are, but I just got done doing 2 photo shoots with it, and it performed very well. The photos below were taken with it and a D90.

They make the 17-50 with a Nikon mount though, so I was planning on using it with either the adaptimax or the Novoflex which allows aperture control. Unless I'm missing something here?

I´m using the Tamron 17-50 on my GH2 and soon will use it on the FS100.
Given the price (250 €) it´s unbeatable!
But of course, you don´t exactly know what F-Stop you are using.

I have the nikon mount 17-50 with the novoflex adapter on my af100 and I like it a ton. Stays really sharp all the way open.

Eithcowich... the tamron 17-50 (at least I can say for the nikon version) is parfocal. The lens does extrude when zooming however just so you know , but focus is maintained. And that link for the novoflex is the one I have, it is great.

Hi Guys

I'm interested in buying one of these lenses and was just wondering if the iris is fully open when you buy it? Looking at buying a novoflex adapter too but have no way of opening the iris fully.

Many thanks

Terry

I have the 28-75. It's CLOSED fully. It's spring loaded. I'm using it with the Novaflex and works great. It doesn't need to open in order to use it with the adapter, not with the Nikon mount anyhow.

I'll sell you mine if your interested? I purchased the Olympus 35-100, and I use this lens more and more now, so am looking to get rid of the tamron.

Hi GuysDoes anyone know if the Canon version will work with the Af100? I've seen this Fotodiox adapter with marked fstop numbers: http://www.fotodiox.com/product_info.php?products_id=821Many thanks Terry
It should work with limited functionality. Those adapters with built in irises "kind of" work from open to about f4. If you want to do it right you'll need a Redrock adapter, which is the only adapter currently out that controls the iris inside of the lens itself.

Hi Brian

Many thanks for the feedback. Do you know EF-S lenses will work with the Redrock adapter?

Regards

Terry
