Experience With "Authorized" Repair Cent

Just took my DVX in to get the heads cleaned and I was asked for a bill of purchase before they even looked at it! Is this the usual practice of Panny authorized service centers? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I've never had to show a receipt for any thing I've ever purchased when I took it in for repair. Seemed a bit strange to me.

If it is to be covered under the warrante then yes, you need to have a bill of sale to prove that it is still under that warrante.

Ahhh, I see. Those wacky repair folks. Understandable though. For a second I thought they wanted to make sure they weren't cleaning heads of a camera that "fell off a truck."

i dealt with a wonderful repair place in mass. called "dave's tv & repair"

you have to remember these are independently owned companies who get reimbursed for working on your camera.

they send a bill to panasonic and get paid. if you weren't under warranty they would be doing it for free.

how often do you work for free??

Re: Experience With "Authorized" Repair

I need to get some warranty work done on my DVX before my time is up. I was disappointed to see that the closed authorized service center is over 600 miles away in Dallas (I'm in Colorado). Looks like I'll have to ship it somewhere. Anyone have recommendations (along with Matthew's) on where to send it? The zoom rocker on the top handle sometimes sticks and I've been putting up with a backfocus problem. Lots of hours on it so I thought I'd get the heads professionally cleaned as well.

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks, Jan, but that's where I found out that the 'closest' service center is in Dallas. I wasn't too surprised that there isn't one in Colorado Springs where I live but I expected to find one in the Denver area. Based on your suggestion, I assume that your website list is up-to-date. :(

Thanks,
Dan

You should also try Specialized Communications. They are Panasonic Authorized and do a great job!

Yep, Neil, who works there, used to work for the Panasonic Industrial Service center in Dedham, Ma in the eighties. After Panasonic closed the center, he went on his own (Dave's). He is very experienced, and honest.
